School, YEAH!

Well the 1st day of school has come and gone, and all I can say is YEAH! Jordan is now in 6th grade and Lauren has started junior high school (yikes). So far so good.

The first full complete week was this past week - homework and all. Going to bed early - no TV - up early, it's all gone pretty smoothly.

Lauren had her 1st "dance". I just picked her up a few minutes ago. Adam of course - being the busy worker that he is, calls and asked, "what dance?", "is it chaperoned?". Of course the entire discussion about the dance happened this week - but remember he has jet lag. So he's missed a lot except for the zzzzzz's he's been catching. He's going to have to stay awake in order to keep up (smile).

We decided that JD will be taking vocal this year instead of playing an instrument. Between the 2 of them we have gone through 1 cello, 1 viola, 1 flute, 1 clarinet and 1 trombone. I like the vocal idea much better (smile). Besides, this will set JD up for 7th grade musical theater; a perfect fit. Lauren has given up on the instruments all together. One reason - if you played an instrument in 7th grade you have to take zero period and start school around 7:10 instead of 8. 'Nough said.

You may have noticed that there has been no mention of "soccer". Lauren, after 8 years of playing decided she had enough last spring and quit. Watch for the basketball stories coming in November! She has also tried her hand at volleyball. Who knows? At 12 years old and 5'7" just maybe there's a career for her? Or maybe not.

The Dragon of Genovia

Jordan was in his latest production, The Dragon of Genovia. He played the part of Sir Ed. In the first picture - thats JD on the far right (for those of you who haven't seen him in a while) and in the 2nd picture he is in the middle of the knights. He did a great job and Lauren and I went to all 4 proformances. Adam would have too, but he was traveling during the 1st weekend of the play - my little thespian. I think JD has found his niche!

Business Travel

We weren't home from vacation more than 7 days and Adam was off on a 2 weeks business trip. This time his trip took him all the way around the globe. He left LA and had a very quick stop over in London - then straight to Switzerland. Edwards has a manufacturing plant there (rough I know). One of his first comments, "my apartment looks like Ikea".

After about 5 days, Adam left Switzerland, flew through Bangkok and stopped in Singapore. This trip is nothing new - as he has been there 2 or 3 times before (as you can tell, I'm losing count!). He spent more than a week in Singapore before returning home. This was his longest trip and trust me - he still has jet lag! We were just glad to have him home.
